Enhancing Your Poetic Visibility

What Poetic Effect can do for you. . .

Literary journal submission preparation including:

Market research to identify those literary journals that might be interested in publishing your work and are open to submissions.
Preparation of personalized submission packets. Each prepared submission consists of:

• a custom cover letter for you to approve and sign.
• the number of your poems specified by that journal's guidelines.
• a SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope bearing your name and address).
• addressed envelopes in which your work will be sent out to those journals selected.

Creation and maintenance of an individualized database which records each submission. You will be able to view your database online upon request.

 

Literary journal submission preparation fees:

Each submission prepared as described above is $7.00. There is a $1.00 one time processing fee for each poem sent to Poetic Effect electronically. The processing fee per poem needing to be data processed is $2.00 per poem.

 

New Service:

Chapbook and full length book manuscript submission preparation are now available. Each prepared manuscript submission consists of:

• research to determine where your manuscript may be best suited.
• a properly formatted manuscript.
• a SASE for notification.
• a custom cover letter.
• labeled envelopes in which your manuscript will be sent.

 

Critiquing and editorial services are available for a separate charge.

You decide when and how often you would like to submit your work. It is true that more literary journals read during the fall months but many journals read year round and some only read during spring and summer. Poetic Effect tracks which journals are reading at what time to maximize your publication possibilities.

To become a Poetic Effect client:

Submit 10 (ten) sample poems to Poetic Effect for consideration to be accepted as a client. These poems will not be given written critique. There is no fee to review sample poems.

Upon acceptance as a Poetic Effect client, you will receive a questionnaire to complete that will be used to prepare your submissions and your custom cover letters. Note: there is a $50.00 one time registration fee per client. This fee is waived for Just Poets members in good standing and Bennington College alumni.
